Grenade attack rocks “Aden Hotel” in Dhalea, Salafist factions shut down oil field in Shabwa

DHALEA/SHABWA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Two southern Yemeni governorates witnessed an escalation in the security chaos gripping the region on Wednesday, both involving factions loyal to the UAE.

In Dhalea governorate, armed militants, believed to be affiliated with Salafist elements loyal to the UAE, launched a hand grenade attack on the “Aden Hotel” in the center of Dhalea city Wednesday evening. The attack resulted in the injuring of the hotel guard and caused significant damage to nearby civilian property and vehicles. The attackers managed to escape.

In Shabwa governorate, extremist Salafist factions from the UAE-funded “Giants Brigades” (Al-Amaliqa) closed the entrance to the “Jannah Hunt” oil field in the Usailan district. The closure, which prevented entry and exit, was a protest over the non-payment of their financial dues by the field’s operating company.

These incidents occur amid the ongoing comprehensive security and service collapse across the southern governorates, coupled with the failure of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to pay employee salaries and the dues of some factions loyal to the Southern Transitional Council and Islah Party.
