ADEN, Nov. 07 (YPA) – The suffering of residents in the provinces of Aden and Mahra, which are controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, has reached a breaking point amid a severe power crisis caused by the failure to purchase new fuel shipments for electricity generation plants.
In Aden, power outages have reportedly exceeded 21 hours a day, with stations operating for only about two hours before 12-hour shutdowns, due to a complete lack of fuel.
The worsening electricity crisis has deepened the suffering of residents and added to their daily hardship, amid the absence of any tangible solutions from officials of the Presidential Leadership Council and the coalition-backed government, who are based in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
Aden Electricity Company has warned in a special notice that power outages could extend for longer hours if any technical malfunctions occur, sparking fears that the city could be plunged into total darkness for prolonged periods.
On the other hand, the Electricity Corporation in Mahra announced that its diesel fuel supply had been completely depleted, leading to a total shutdown of the province’s power system until new shipments arrive, without specifying a date.
This development comes at a time when Aden, Mahra, and other southern governorates, including Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa, are experiencing a recurring electricity crisis that directly affects citizens’ lives and exacerbates their daily suffering.
The electricity crisis in Aden and other governorates under the coalition’s control reflects a painful aspect of the suffering caused by the suspension of salaries for employees and recruits since last June.
As harsh conditions continue, citizens’ daily lives have turned into a double suffering in various fields, with the absence of any tangible actions by the pro-coalition government, which increases citizens’ frustration and expands the circle of suffering in these areas for the tenth consecutive year.
