TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei on Monday mocked Washington for resorting to sanctions against Iran whenever it fails diplomatically.
In a post on X, Baghaei said the U.S. Treasury secretary had boasted of choking Iran through economic sanctions, adding that, regardless of the claim’s implications, it was clear evidence of America’s addiction to sanctions.
“Whenever Washington proves unable to pursue diplomacy, it resorts to sanctions; and whenever those sanctions fail to achieve the desired results, it intensifies them,” Baghaei said.
“This is no longer a ‘policy’ but a ‘habit’; and more dangerously, it has become an addiction that has replaced thinking itself,” he added.
Baghaei said Iran had demonstrated over decades that it would not be choked by such outdated arguments.
He warned that by clinging to this “bad habit,” U.S. politicians risk eliminating what opportunities remain for them to resolve a crisis they themselves created in a less humiliating manner.
