ATHENS, Nov. 03 (YPA) – A demonstration took place, on Monday, at the port of Argostoli on the Greek island of Kefalonia, protesting the arrival of a ship carrying Israeli tourists.
Greek media reported that the cruise ship “Crown Iris,” carrying approximately 1,500 Israeli tourists, arrived this morning at the port of Argostoli amidst tight security measures by the Greek police, who sent reinforcements from the capital, Athens, and the city of Patras to the island.
According to the media, the police closed some roads surrounding the port to traffic, while the Israeli tourists were transported in special buses to the areas they will visit.
The demonstrators, in solidarity with Palestine, gathered at the port to protest the genocide committed by the Israeli enemy in the Gaza Strip, chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine.”
The same cruise ship was subjected to similar protests last week in the ports of Patras and Kalamata, located on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed genocide, siege, and starvation crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 68,875 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 170,670 others to date, in a preliminary count, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue teams.
