Omani Foreign Minister makes fiery statements against “Israel”

MANAMA, Nov. 01 (YPA) – Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi said on Saturday that “Israel”, not Iran, is the primary source of insecurity in the region.

The Omani Foreign Minister stated that Israeli deliberate practices of prolonging tensions in its conflict with Iran had resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent Iranian civilians, noting that Tehran had responded with remarkable restraint, just as it did when “Israel” bombed its consulate in Syria, injured its ambassador in Lebanon, and assassinated a senior Palestinian negotiator in Tehran.

During his participation in the Manama Dialogue 2025, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in cooperation with the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Badr Al-Busaidi stated that historical experience had proven that policies of marginalization only exacerbate tensions and prolong conflicts.

In his remarks, he explained that “the Sultanate of Oman has long maintained that isolating Iran is not a solution and that its inclusion in a comprehensive regional security framework contributes to consolidating stability and joint cooperation.”

“Iran has demonstrated, at various stages… Oman has demonstrated openness and a readiness for constructive dialogue, and has shown restraint in numerous instances despite repeated attacks,” he added. “This underscores the importance of adopting a comprehensive diplomatic approach that includes all parties to address shared challenges such as maritime security, combating smuggling, and climate change, as reported by the Oman News Agency.

Al-Busaidi noted that earlier this year, the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States had made tangible progress during five rounds of talks. However, just days before the sixth round, which was expected to be decisive, Israel launched illegal military attacks against Iran.

In his address, he emphasized that true security was not built on policies of isolation, containment, or exclusion, but rather on inclusivity and positive engagement among the countries of the region.

The Omani Foreign Minister called for the establishment of a regional security framework that includes all countries, including Iran, Iraq, and Yemen, to effectively address shared challenges.

He concluded his remarks by affirming that the Sultanate of Oman would continue to support comprehensive dialogue as a strategic option for achieving security, peace, and prosperity in the region, stressing that dialogue was the only way to build a more prosperous future, stability and development for its people.
