Sanaa studies project to build railway in Hodeida

SANAA, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Head of the General Investment Authority in Sanaa, Mohammed Ishaq, discussed on Monday with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works for the Roads Sector, Nabil Al-Haifi, the preliminary study of the railway construction project in Hodeida province.

In a meeting, the officials reviewed the objectives and progress of the project, which will transform the transportation infrastructure, facilitate trade flow, and reduce transportation costs.

The project will launch at Ras Isa Port, pass through Al-Salif Port, to Bajil district. The railway is estimated to be (99) km long, with an estimated cost of $150 million, including basic facilities, transfers, supports, rails, and other infrastructure.

During the meeting, the chairman of authority emphasized that the project came within the framework of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, develop the transportation sector, strengthen the national economy, and stimulate investment.
