MAHRA, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Five officers, including a police woman, were injured on Monday in violent armed clashes that erupted in the city of Al-Ghaydah of Mahra province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources said that the clashes broke out between security personnel and an armed gang believed to be affiliated with hashish and drug dealers following a raid on their home near the Al-Ghaydah Corniche.
They added that police personnel were trying to control the situation and evacuate the wounded amid intermittent exchanges of fire, noting that the situation was kept tense.
The sources noted that the area surrounding the Corniche was witnessing armed reinforcements from both sides, amid a dangerous state of security chaos in the area surrounding the Al-Ghaydah Corniche.
In a related context, Al Ghaydah Hospital issued an urgent appeal to citizens in Al Ghaydah to quickly go to the hospital to donate blood types (O+ and B+), in order to provide the necessary quantities to save the lives of the injured and transfer them to advanced stages of treatment.
