ADEN, Oct. 26 (YPA) – A photo of the Director of the Aden-based Central Bank, Ahmed Al-Ma’baqi, alongside the British Ambassador, Abda Al-Sharif, sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms on Sunday after it was widely circulated by activists.
In their posts, critics of the photo accused the Central Bank Director of a “blatant departure” from official diplomatic protocols due to his proximity to the ambassador.

They considered this to be a violation of professional etiquette when dealing with foreign representatives and an insult to the high-ranking position he holds.
Activists described the appearance was inconsistent with the customs and traditions of conservative Yemeni society, asserting that the bank manager failed to adhere to the required diplomatic prudence.
In a broader context, the critics linked Al-Ma’baqi’s position in the photo to a “state of negligence” they said was affecting the financial and economic governance in Aden and the southern provinces.
It’s worth noting that neither the Central Bank in Aden nor the director have issued any official comment yet on this photo and the controversy it was sparked.
