SHABWA, Oct. 26 (YPA) – UAE-backed factions had kidnapped Saleh Mansour Al-Qamishi, the leader of the “Peaceful Dignity Movement”, in Shabwa province and took him to an unknown location.
A local source in the province confirmed that armed members of the Shabwa Defense Forces intercepted Al-Qamishi and his companions while they were driving through a military checkpoint on Saturday, and transported them to one of the forces’ prisons.
In a related context, the Dignity Movement, a group of members of the Wahidi tribe, issued a statement strongly condemning what it described as the “arbitrary and shameful arrest of Al-Qamishi”.
The statement held the UAE-backed local authorities fully responsible for the safety of Al-Qamishi and his companions, stressing that such practices would not intimidate free people or halt the struggle.
It called on international and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to curb these violations against members of the Al-Wahidi tribe, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of detainees.
The Dignity Movement vowed to take escalating protest steps unless the authorities reversed what it called their “repressive approach against free voices. “The dignity of the Wahidi tribesmen is a red line that will not be broken, no matter how intense the campaigns of repression and intimidation.”
