STC leader criticizes Aden authorities’ ‘incapacity,’ threatens loss of legitimacy

ADEN, Oct. 24 (YPA) – Fadhl al-Jaadi, a member of the presidency of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), launched on Friday a sharp criticism against the authorities responsible for managing the city of Aden, which is under the Saudi-led coalition’s control, due to the worsening services crisis.

In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Jaadi described the current situation in Aden, which includes comprehensive electricity and water outages, as a “sterile incapacity,” indicating the responsible parties’ inability to fulfill citizens’ legitimate rights.

Al-Jaadi’s statements carried a clear threatening tone, as he noted that any authority that loses its ability to meet these rights “loses its connection with the people, and thus loses the conditions for its continuity.”

These criticisms reflect growing discontent within the STC leadership due to the crisis, which comes amid the pro-coalition government’s failure to secure the necessary fuel shipments to operate power plants and the continued looting of revenues and sharing of financial resources among influential forces loyal to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
