GOAM in Sanaa publishes list 29 of looted Yemeni antiquities

SANAA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The General Organization for Antiquities and Museums (GOAM) in Sanaa published on Wednesday a new list of looted Yemeni antiquities.

In a statement, the organization clarified that the number of looted pieces amounts to 43 artifacts displayed in foreign auctions and museums.

The statement indicated that the list contains collections of looted Yemeni artifacts, which have been classified into four main groups: the first group comprises artifacts seized in Germany in 2013, which the organization reported; the second group consists of pieces of unknown source and fate due to a lack of precise data about them.

The organization explained that the third group includes pieces mentioned in private collections and referenced in specialized scientific research, and the fourth group consists of artifacts displayed in foreign auctions and museums.

The statement noted that this is the 29th list issued by the GOAM to monitor and track Yemeni artifacts displayed in auctions and museums abroad.

The organization called on the relevant international bodies to halt such auctions, as they violate international laws in this regard, and to restore the right to its owners. It also urged anyone with any information about looted antiquities and sites to promptly contact the organization via the dedicated form on the website:
