ICJ condemns Israel’s conduct, affirming “no evidence linking UNRWA staff to Hamas”

THE HAGUE, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday affirmed that “Israel” has not presented any legal evidence to support its claims that staff members of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) belong to Hamas or other organizations.

The Court stressed that the Israeli occupation is obligated to facilitate the work of all UN agencies, including UNRWA, in the Gaza Strip, considering the obstruction of humanitarian aid a blatant violation of international law, and emphasizing that the starvation of civilians cannot be used “as a tool of war.”

The Court also affirmed that “Israel,” as the occupying power, holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Quds “Jerusalem,” and is obliged to guarantee the basic needs of Gaza’s residents and permit the Red Cross to visit all detainees.

This decision is considered an explicit legal condemnation of Israeli occupation’s violations in its ongoing war on the Strip.
