PARIS, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Waves of Freedom France announced that a French NGO had expelled a spokesperson who participated in the Global Resilience Flotilla aiming to break the siege on Gaza, for allegedly expressing anti-Semitic and homophobic positions on social media.
In a statement, the organization said “We strongly condemn all forms of racism, anti-Semitism, and discrimination,” justifying the exclusion of Mustafa Kakichi after Mediapart and Street Press revealed his numerous online posts.
Street Press reported that Kakichi, who participated in the maritime campaign that was launched in September, along with some prominent French figures, such as Rima Hassan, a member of the European Parliament for the France Insoumise party (a radical leftist who has long been known to local activists in the Doubs region in eastern France), participated in the campaign.
The Global Steadfastness Flotilla set sail from Barcelona with the aim of breaking the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip and delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian Strip.
The Israeli navy intercepted his ships off the coast of Egypt and the Gaza Strip between October 1 and 3, unlawfully, according to organizers and Amnesty International.
