GAZA, Oct. 18 (YPA) – The Gaza Center for Human Rights confirmed on Saturday that its field teams documented 129 shelling and shooting incidents committed by the Israeli occupation forces, resulting in the deaths of 34 Palestinians and the injury of 122 others since the ceasefire agreement came into effect.
In a statement, the center said that the occupation forces targeted a civilian vehicle carrying members of the Shaaban family in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on Friday, October 17, 2025, resulting in the deaths of one civilian, including seven children and two women.
It noted that the Israeli behavior reflected a blatant disregard for the lives of civilians and a determination to continue its policy of killing and destruction without the slightest regard for international humanitarian law or Israel’s obligations as an occupying power.
The statement emphasized that the occupation forces possessed monitoring tools and were capable of determining that this vehicle posed no threat to the lives of Israeli soldiers stationed in a remote area.
It noted that what happened reflected the occupation forces’ approach to the abuse of civilians and their insistence on completing the crime of genocide against Palestinians.
The center’s statement considered that the protection of civilians could only be achieved through a comprehensive and permanent cessation of aggression, obligating Israel to respect international humanitarian law, and activating international justice mechanisms to ensure justice for victims.
