Senior politician fights for life inside STC jails in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Human rights sources revealed on Friday the deteriorating health of Sheikh Abdulwali Al-Subaihi, head of the Political Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Southern Revolutionary Movement, who is being held in a prison run by Emirati factions in the city of Aden.

The sources confirmed that Al-Subaihi’s deterioration came after he was transferred to Aboud Hospital, where leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions confirmed their inability to provide him with the necessary treatment in light of his poor condition.

They indicated that the administration of the detention center where Al-Subaihi was being held demanded that his family assume responsibility for his treatment before he died.

The sources indicated that Al-Subaihi had been subjected to physical and psychological torture since his abduction from the Al-Dharaba area, west of Lahj, in mid-November 2024, without any legal justification.

Al-Subaihi’s abduction was part of a series of arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances that have affected numerous leaders and members of the Revolutionary Movement and activists opposed to the policies of the UAE and Saudi Arabia in southern Yemen.
