ADEN, Oct. 15 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) said that if the south of Yemen would achieve independence and would join the normalization agreements with the Israeli occupation, as part of its efforts to gain wider international support for secession.
Aidarous al-Zubaidi, head of the Abu Dhabi-backed STC, recently asserted that regaining southern independence would pave the way for normalization with Israel.
He affirmed that his STC movement would get ready to establish a state and that the Abraham Accords may be vital to regional peace, according to an analysis published Tuesday by Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
This comes at a time when “Israel” has become a global pariah due to its genocidal war in Gaza and its military campaigns in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
In Yemen, which has also been subjected to repeated Israeli attacks in its war with the Ansarallah, al-Zubaidi’s statement in support of normalization has sparked widespread anger and frustration.
Courting Tel Aviv to advance a separatist agenda would only deepen polarization in Yemen, and analysts said it was a miscalculation.
The analysis confirmed that the STC was becoming enjoy the support of Abu Dhabi, which is keen to strengthen relations with the occupation. Therefore, it is natural for the council’s rhetoric to align with Abu Dhabi’s strategy.
A recent report was revealed that Abu Dhabi’s allies, including the Israeli occupation and the United States, have established and expanded military and intelligence bases on Yemeni islands such as Socotra, which are under the control of the STC.
It indicated that Israeli officers have operated on the ground on the islands, and that Israeli radar systems and other military and security equipment would allow the UAE to monitor and thwart attacks launched by Sanaa forces.
The British website Middle East Eye published a report stating that “the UAE and Israel have an intelligence-sharing platform known as Crystal Ball, where they design, deploy, and enable regional intelligence enhancement in partnership.”
In the same context, a media delegation, including Israeli journalist Jonathan Spyer, has arrived in Aden this year and met with officials from the STC. Spyer, accompanied by a general from the council, visited the fighting fronts in Dhalea province.
The details of the visit sparked intense controversy in Yemen, with many viewing it as a step toward normalization with “Israel”.
The Israelis played an indirect role in the formation and organization of the STC’s Security Belt Forces. The UAE hired retired Israeli officers from foreign security companies to train Security Belt personnel in Abu Dhabi.
