GAZA, Oct. 06 (YPA) – At a pivotal moment when the Palestinian cause was under threat of being erased, the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation marked a strategic shift in the decades-long conflict between Palestinians and Israel, shifting the balance and bringing the issue back to the forefront after it had nearly been forgotten.
Before the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, amid accelerating Arab normalisation with Israel, Palestine was increasingly neglected internationally and regionally. Israeli actions intensified, including annexation, settlement growth, violations of holy sites, Gaza’s blockade, and harsh laws against Palestinian prisoners. Meanwhile, pressure to protect Palestinian rights weakened, reinforcing concerns that the Zionist project aimed to liquidate the Palestinian cause, with the peace process merely a cover to entrench occupation.
Amid these circumstances, the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation arose as a necessary response to rebalance the situation, end marginalization, revive the Palestinian cause, and stop the rapid normalization process that threatened Palestinian national identity.
The Al-Aqsa Flood operation came to underscore that resistance remains the legitimate path after the collapse of all negotiation channels. It delivered a strong message to the world that true security in the region is impossible without justice for the Palestinian people.
A turning point for the region
The Al-Aqsa Flood was not merely a military operation but a turning point that changed the course of the region. It revitalised the spirit of resistance, halted the rapid wave of normalisation that was advancing towards more dangerous stages, and brought the Palestinian cause back to into the international spotlight after years of absence.
From a realistic perspective, the operation can be seen as a necessary response to the ongoing attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause. It redefined the conflict and demonstrated that the Palestinian people remain capable of imposing new realities when pushed into a corner.
Two years after the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, it is clear that it was more than a military response — it was a major strategic message that shifted the landscape and brought the Palestinian cause back to the forefront after nearly being erased. Though the cost was great and the journey toward justice remains long, the Al-Aqsa Flood reaffirmed that Palestine cannot be erased from the pages of history.
