Tehran accuses West of thwarting diplomacy, vowing to respond to activation of “trigger mechanism”

TEHRAN, Oct. 06 (YPA) – In a new escalation of political rhetoric, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday held Western countries responsible for obstructing and sabotaging diplomatic efforts to reach a just settlement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

During a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Tehran, Araghchi stressed that Iran “will not remain idle” in the face of the escalatory step of activating the “trigger mechanism”.

He accused the West of “not seeking solutions, but rather hegemony”, describing the demands of Washington and the three European capitals as “unrealistic and arrogant”, which has led to the deadlock in the negotiations.

The Iranian minister stressed that the experience of negotiations had proven that threats and political blackmail did not produce a solution, warning that activating the “trigger mechanism” would represent a new strategic mistake that complicates the situation and destroys what remains of trust.

Changing Rules of the Diplomatic Game:

Araghchi explained that Tehran still believed in a diplomatic solution, but it would no longer accept unequal negotiations or imposed conditions, noting that the European role in the upcoming talks has significantly diminished and no longer enjoys the influential power it once did.

He also strongly denied the Western media’s claims that there were additional demands or clauses outside the scope of the nuclear issue in the indirect talks with the United States, asserting that Iran had presented “constructive” proposals, but the obstruction came from the West.

Araghchi concluded by emphasizing that the recent actions in the Security Council were clearly dictated by the United States, which made any potential dialogue more difficult.

He sent a decisive message: “Our diplomatic patience is not a sign of weakness, but it is not unlimited. Whoever chooses confrontation must bear the consequences.”
