Piraeus port’s workers strike in protest against Israeli attack on Sumud Flotilla

ATHENS, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Dozens of workers of Piraeus port tin the Greek capital, Athens, decided on Friday to go on strike for 24 hours, to show solidarity with activists of the Global Sumud Flotilla.

In a statement, the Port Workers Union condemned the Israeli attack on the flotilla as it was heading to the Gaza Strip to break the blockade.

The statement asserted that “Israel” had arrested the ships’ crews, including Greek nationals, in a military attack and cut off communication with them, in order to prevent food and medicine from reaching Palestinians, who are subjected to genocide, starvation, and blockade in the Gaza Strip.

“The Greek government bears a great responsibility, not only for its failure to protect the Greeks participating in the flotilla, but also for maintaining strategic relations with criminal Israel, like its predecessors,” it added.
