Four injured in stabbing, car-ramming incident outside Manchester synagogue in UK

LONDON, Oct. 02 (YPA) – Greater Manchester Police announced on Thursday that they were responding to a “major incident” outside a Jewish synagogue on Middleton Street, which resulted in four people being injured in a stabbing and car-ramming incident.

Police stated in a statement that reports began at 9:31 a.m. of a car driving toward a crowd of pedestrians and a man being stabbed. Police then dispatched armed units, indicating that officers shot and wounded a man believed to be the attacker at 9:38 a.m.

Police confirmed that the PLATO emergency plan had been implemented, while Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said the immediate danger “appears to have passed” after the attacker was shot. Police have urged citizens to avoid the area.
