Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital: Health system in Gaza is collapsing and occupation is following systematic starvation policy
GAZA, Sept. 28 (YPA) – Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesman for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, confirmed, on Sunday, that the health and humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip have reached an unprecedented tragic stage, in light of the fierce and systematic attack launched by the Israeli occupation on the medical system in the Strip.
In a press statement, Al-Daqran said that medical teams are working with almost non-existent tools and capabilities, amid an urgent need to open field hospitals and dispatch urgent medical missions, in addition to the necessity of transferring many patients for treatment abroad, warning that the current situation has exacerbated the suffering of thousands of wounded and chronically ill people.
He pointed out that the occupation is falsely promoting the existence of safe areas within the Gaza Strip, while the truth is that there is absolutely no safe place, noting that hospitals, shelters, and civilians have all become targets of raids and shelling.
The spokesman renewed his appeal to the international community to pressure the occupation authorities to allow the entry of the awaited Steadfastness Flotilla, which carries urgent medical and food aid, stressing that the Strip is in dire need of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, in addition to food and baby formula.
He warned that the occupation’s policy of siege and closure represents a deliberate starvation of the people of Gaza, which has brought the humanitarian situation to an extremely difficult and dangerous stage. He called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their responsibilities and work to ensure the arrival of humanitarian supplies as soon as possible.
