MAHRA, Sept. 09 (YPA) -The Electricity Corporation in Yemen’s Mahra province has issued a shocking announcement to residents, warning of reduced power supply due to a sharp diesel fuel shortage, as summer temperatures soar.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Corporation said it was forced to reduce operating hours at power stations due to a critical shortage of diesel fuel allocated to the province.
It said the diesel allocated by the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Aden, would not meet current demands, and that operating hours would be adjusted to match the available supply.
The Corporation said efforts are underway, in coordination with concerned bodies, to resolve the fuel shortage and stabilize electricity supply across the province.
The Corporation said the inconsistent electricity schedule was out of its hands.
This announcement sparked criticism from local activists, who urged the pro-coalition authorities to use Mahra’s revenues independently to procure fuel and secure uninterrupted services for residents.
