Oman’s victory over Iraq sets Gulf Youth Cup semifinal matches

ABHA, Sept. 04 (YPA) – The Omani youth national team on Thursday secured its spot in the semifinals of the inaugural Gulf Youth Cup (U-20) after a one-to-nil victory over its Iraqi counterpart.

The only goal of the match, part of the Group B competitions, was scored by player Sulaiman Al-Kharousi in the 89th minute, which guaranteed Oman first place in the group. Iraq finished in second place.

With this result, the matchups for the semifinals, which will take place in the city of Abha, Saudi Arabia, have been set. The Yemeni youth team will play against Oman, while the Saudi team will face Iraq.

The semifinal matches are scheduled for next Sunday. Oman will take on Saudi Arabia at 4:30 p.m., while Yemen will play against Iraq at 7:00 p.m.
