NEW YORK, Sept. 03 (YPA) – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, has called for an immediate halt to arms exports to the Israeli occupation, stating that the ongoing massacres in Gaza have reached “the most horrific stages of genocide.”
In his remarks, Rajagopal said, “The world has abandoned the Palestinians, and the international system has proven to be a complete failure.” He directed sharp criticism at the failure of the UN and the Security Council to stop the massacres in the strip, emphasizing that the international community is facing a moment of historic shame.
The UN rapporteur pointed out that moral and legal responsibility lies with heads of state and government, calling for urgent and effective action to stop war crimes and grave violations of international law.
Rajagopal added that Israeli occupation forces are even targeting civilians living in tents, considering it part of a deliberate plan to forcibly displace and starve the population, which he described as “a crime against humanity.”
