Hamas: “Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2” represents a further escalation of the genocidal war in Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 21 (YPA) -The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has condemned the Israeli  occupation army’s announcement of launching what it called “Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2” against Gaza City, which is home to nearly one million residents and displaced people.

“This operation along with war criminal Netanyahu’s intention to approve it by tomorrow, represents a further escalation of the genocidal war that has been ongoing for over 22 months and a disregard for mediators’ efforts to reach a halt to the aggression and prisoner exchange,” Hamas said in a statement.

“While the Movement has announced its approval to the latest proposal presented by mediators, the Zionist terrorist government insists on continuing its brutal war against innocent civilians by escalating its criminal operations in Gaza City, aiming to destroy it and displace its people in a complete war crime,” the statement read.

Hamas added, ” Netanyahu’s disregard for the mediators’ proposal and not responding to it prove that he is the real obstacle to any agreement, cares nothing for the lives of his prisoners, and is not serious about their return.”

The Movement affirmed that the so-called “Gideon’s Chariots 2” will fail, just as previous military operations have failed, the occupation will not achieve its objectives, and the occupation of Gaza will not be a walk in the park.

Hamas called on the mediators to exert maximum pressure on the occupation to stop the crime of genocide and starvation against our Palestinian people.

The Movement held the occupation and the US administration fully responsible for the consequences of this criminal operation aimed at destroying what remains of life aspects in Gaza.
