Director of Baptist Hospital in Gaza: Doctors are starving and deprived of rest

GAZA, July 22 (YPA) – Fadel Naeem, director of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, revealed the harsh conditions under which the medical staff works, noting that doctors are starving and deprived of food, sleep, and rest, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip.

Naeem said in press statements on Tuesday that doctors continue to perform their humanitarian duty despite physical and psychological collapse, stressing that many of them work long hours without eating or resting, in a desperate attempt to save the lives of the wounded and injured.

The health sector in Gaza is suffering from an unprecedented collapse as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression for months, with dozens of hospitals out of service due to direct bombing or running out of fuel and medicine.

The few remaining health facilities, such as the Baptist Hospital, are operating beyond their capacity, amid a severe shortage of medical personnel and basic supplies, leaving medical staff facing harsh, life-threatening conditions while trying to save others.

The residents of the Gaza Strip have been facing a real wave of hunger since the enemy closed the Gaza crossings in early March and imposed severe restrictions on the entry of food and relief aid, fuel, and medicine into the Strip, as part of the ongoing genocide crime for 21 months.
