Angry protests paralyze Taiz over deteriorating living conditions

TAIZ, July 17 (YPA) – The city of Taiz, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition-backed government, witnessed massive popular demonstrations on Thursday, blocking main roads.

The demonstrations were in protest against the accelerating collapse of services and the deteriorating economic and living conditions that have exacerbated the suffering of the population.

The angry protestors chanted slogans against the “pro-coalition government” and the coalition, demanding an immediate response to the collapse of the local currency, the exorbitant rise in prices, and the lack of even the most basic services.

In a striking development, eyewitnesses reported that the pro-coalition forces opened fire on the demonstrators in an attempt to disperse them.

It is worth noting that this demonstration is considered one of the largest spontaneous protests the city has witnessed, especially in light of the ongoing water shortage crisis that is suffocating the population in the province.
