Yemen central bank issues new 200-riyal banknote

SANAA, July 15 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Central Bank of Yemen declared on Tuesday announced the issuance of a new 200-riyal Yemeni bank-note, which set to enter official circulation on Wednesday, July 16.

The bank said in a statement that the issue would be allocated, along with the recently-minted coins, to end the problem of damaged banknotes.

This was due to the bank’s keenness to use its tools to serve the people without adding any monetary mass or affecting exchange rates.

The statement pointed out the issuance came in carrying out the bank’s plan to restore and reform the monetary system, which was built on the foundation of preserving the purchasing power of the national currency and facilitating daily transactions that meet the needs of all Yemenis.

“This issuance is designed and printed in accordance with the latest international practices, standards, and specifications for printing banknotes, the bank’s statement added. “It also boasts multi-level security features.”
