ABYAN, July 08 (YPA) – Dozens of recruits from the UAE factions blocked the main road in central Abyan Governorate, protesting their dismissal over the past year.
Local sources in the governorate reported that the recruits from Abyan in the UAE-funded “16th Giants Brigade” blocked the road in front of the factions’ vehicles near Mount Akd, amid armed tensions in the region.
They indicated that the elements’ escalation by blocking the road came after a full year of demands for their reinstatement and the settlement of their financial situations, without revealing the reasons behind their dismissal.
They attributed their dismissal from the factions to regional reasons no different from the dismissal of the rest of the dismissed recruits from Abyan in the “Security Belt” factions.
This came after the families and relatives of the detained recruits from Abyan in the pro-Saudi camps on the Najran front in northern Yemen held a protest near Mount Akd, demanding their unconditional release.
The families of the detained recruits demanded that the coalition government move quickly to release their sons, and threatened to escalate the situation if their demands continued to be ignored.
