ADEN, July 07 (YPA) – Dozens of citizens held a protest, on Monday, in front of Ma’ashiq Palace, which the coalition-affiliated government uses as its headquarters, to denounce the collapse in living conditions and services.
The protesters, both women and men, most of whom were elderly, raised banners demanding electricity services, which experience outages exceeding 19 hours a day, and an end to the ongoing collapse of the local currency, the loss of which has affected the living conditions of teachers and citizens alike.
The women participating in the protest chanted slogans denouncing the government’s disregard for citizens’ demands and the continued suspension of salaries for the second consecutive month.
The coalition-affiliated government allowed three of the demonstrators to enter Ma’ashiq Palace, amid a turnout described as lackluster and not rising to the level of the suffering of citizens in Aden and the rest of the southern governorates.
