TEXAS, July 05 (YPA) – Heavy rains have caused devastating flash floods in Texas Hill Country, killing dozens of people as rescue teams scrambled to save dozens of victims trapped by high water or reported missing in the disaster, local officials said on Friday.
According to The Washington Post, the flash floods struck the area early in the day, triggering emergency evacuations in the hardest-hit areas. State officials confirmed that rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate and assist survivors.
In response to the crisis, the Texas National Guard, the US Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have been activated to support rescue and relief operations.
CNN reported that the state of emergency in Texas has been extended due to the severity of the situation.
Officials emphasized the need for broad coordination among federal, state, and local agencies to address the disaster and aid those affected.
