Trump: I will be tough with Netanyahu to end the war in Gaza

SANAA, July 01 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump said, on Tuesday, that he will take a tough stance during his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the aim of pushing him toward ending the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

In press statements, Trump revealed the possibility of reaching a deal to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip within the next week, stressing the common intentions between the American and Israeli sides to reach a settlement.

He added: “I will be tough in my conversation with Netanyahu about ending the war. I think the time has come for that, and Netanyahu himself wants to end it.”

He pointed out that the continued fighting harms Israel’s interests and exacerbates the international isolation it faces.

Trump did not clarify the details of the potential deal, or the parties that might participate in it, but his statements reflect a new political move on his part to play a role in international efforts aimed at stopping the bloodshed in the Strip, more than 20 months after the aggression that left tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians dead and wounded.
