Senior military official receives directives to target US warship in support of Iran

SANAA, June 22 (YPA) – A senior military official in the Sanaa-based government revealed on Sunday he had received directives to participate in confronting US-Israeli threats against Iran.

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Sharif, advisor to the Ministry of Defense in the Sanaa government, said in an interview with the Yemeni Press Agency, that the direct orders made by President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, came as part of what he described as a “joint strategic defense” among the countries of the Axis of Resistance to counter US escalation in the region.

He affirmed that that Yemen’s position came also consistent with its national and religious commitments to defending Arab and Islamic peoples, emphasizing that Sanaa would not stand idly by in the face of any aggression targeting an Arab or Islamic country,”

The military official emphasized that since 2018, Sana’a’s forces have transformed into a regional deterrent force thanks to the qualitative advancements they have achieved in the field of military industries, particularly in the field of ballistic missiles and drones.

He noted that this transformation was clearly demonstrated by the imposition of a naval blockade on the Israeli occupation entity and the targeting of ships associated with it, in addition to what he considered a “strategic defeat” for American forces in the Red Sea battle.

The military advisor clarified that since 2018, Sanaa-based armed forces have transformed into a regional deterrent force thanks to the qualitative advancements they have achieved in the field of military industries, particularly in the field of ballistic missiles and drones.

He noted that this transformation was clearly demonstrated by the imposition of a naval blockade on the Israeli occupation entity and the targeting its ships, in addition to a “strategic defeat” for American forces in the Red Sea battle.

In the same context, Brigadier General Al-Sharif reiterated his country’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, calling on Arab countries normalizing relations with the Israeli occupation to review their positions and sever ties with this brutal entity.

He also called on the international community to take urgent action to halt the aggression on the Gaza Strip and end Israeli violations in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

Finally, Al-Sharif clarified Yemen had military capabilities deterring enemies, noting that the administration of US President Donald Trump had turned to Oman for mediation to halt the Yemeni attacks, after Washington had failed to protect even its warships.
