BERLIN, June 19 (YPA) – The new German government, headed by Friedrich Merz, announced on Thursday that it had exported weapons to Israel worth nearly €4 million over the past five weeks of this year.
The German Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection announced, in response to a parliamentary question, that the government had authorized arms manufacturers to export €3,986,000 worth of weapons to Israel between May 7 and June 10 of this year.
Berlin frequently receives criticism from human rights and international organizations for arms exports to Israeli occupation entity, which has been committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for 21 months.
On the other hand, German arms and military equipment sales to Tel Aviv amounted to €161.1 million in 2024. In 2023, during Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip, the German government approved the sale of €327 million worth of arms and military equipment to Israel, a tenfold increase compared to 2022.
