Over 3,000 Islamophobic incidents reported in Germany in 2024

BERLIN, June 19 (YPA) – The Berlin-based Kleim network has released its 2024 annual report on Islamophobic attacks and discrimination in Germany.

According to the report, 3,080 attacks or discrimination against Muslims were recorded during the year, compared to 1,926 in 2023, representing an increase of more than 60%.

Although part of the increase is attributed to the increase in the number of counseling centers from 17 to 26, the report also confirms a significant increase in the number of cases even in centers that were previously operating, indicating that the increase reflects a real escalation on the ground and not simply an expansion in documentation.

The report highlighted that approximately 70% of the victims were women, particularly those wearing the hijab, as well as school-age children.

The attacks included insults, threats, and physical assaults, as well as the labeling of Muslims with stereotypical labels such as “terrorists” or “knife attackers.”
