What is the stance of Arab and Islamic world after six days of Israeli aggression against Iran?

SANAA, June 19 (YPA) – On the sixth day of the Israeli aggression against Iran, Arab and Islamic countries remain united in their condemnation of the aggression and their demand for its immediate cessation, with the exception of Morocco, which has yet to issue an official statement expressing its condemnation of the aggression.

In the latest statements, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, during a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart, Shalva Papuashvili, in the capital, Ankara, stressed that the policies pursued by the Israeli government represent a threat to world peace.

Kurtulmuş stressed the need for the international community to intervene to halt the Israeli aggression against Iran before the situation escalates and the world finds itself facing a greater conflict, noting that Turkey calls on everyone to take immediate action to halt this aggression.

Most prominent stances

Among Egypt’s prominent positions were the efforts that resulted in the issuance of an Arab-Islamic statement, by consensus among the foreign ministers of 23 Arab and Islamic countries, expressing solidarity with Iran.

The statement, issued last Monday, expressed rejection and condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression against Iran, stressing the importance of halting this aggression and the need to establish a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and without selectivity.

The statement also stressed the need to expedite the accession of all countries in the region to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, referring to Israeli entity, which possesses nuclear weapons and poses a threat to the security and stability of the region.

The statement emphasized the need to protect nuclear facilities subject to International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards, considering their targeting a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Convention. It noted the importance of returning to the negotiating track as soon as possible as the only way to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

This position is a continuation of Egypt’s role, which from the outset condemned the Israeli aggression, considering it a dangerous escalation that destabilizes regional stability and violates international law and the UN Charter. Egypt stressed the need to halt the aggression as quickly as possible in order to preserve regional and international peace and security.

The firmest position

Of all the Arab and Islamic countries, Pakistan’s position is the firmest.  From the start, Pakistan has shown complete solidarity with Iran, calling on the Islamic world to unite, sever ties with Israeli occupation, and defend Tehran’s interests

The strongest position

Yemen has taken the strongest stance among Arab and Muslim countries, rejecting the Israeli aggression on Iran, supporting Iran’s response, and offering its complete backing against Israeli aggression.
