Thousands from Maghreb join ‘Soumoud’ convoy to break Gaza blockade

RABAT, June 12 (YPA) – The “Soumoud” (Steadfastness) convoy, composed of activists from across the Maghreb region, continues its efforts to break the blockade that has been imposed on the Gaza Strip for more than twenty months.

Coordinator of the “Soumoud” convoy, Marwan Bin Qataya told Shehab News Agency that thousands of Moroccans and supporters from across the Maghreb will join the march at the Egyptian-Libyan border, in an attempt to cross Egyptian territory and reach the Rafah crossing into Gaza.

He added, “The convoy continues its journey to the Libyan-Egyptian border, where the Mauritanian delegation will join, and Libyans are mobilizing crowds to participate.”

Bin Qataya noted that Libyans are mobilizing crowds to take part in the initiative, which aims to pressure for an end to the blockade imposed on Gaza’s population, who are suffering from severe shortages of food, medicine, and other essential supplies.

He stressed that the convoy’s purpose is to break the siege on the people of Gaza, who have been starving, thirsting, and facing extermination for over 20 months.

He added that these peoples rise in a time of silence and betrayal, to make their voices heard:  “Enough of this siege on Gaza, enough of the aggression—this war must end, and aid must be allowed in.”
