200 protesters arrested, night curfew imposed in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, June 11 (YPA) – The mayor of Los Angeles declared a state of emergency and imposed a nighttime curfew in the city center after violent protests against US President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Over 200 individuals were arrested in one night, and the city experienced violent clashes and incidents of looting.

The curfew is in effect daily from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in a 2.5-square-kilometer area, with exceptions for residents, authorized media personnel, and law enforcement.

The immigration raids that sparked last Friday’s protests continue, with the National Guard troops protecting immigration staff.
