GAZA, June 11 (YPA) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed that aid distribution in Gaza has become a source of danger for civilians.
“Day after day, casualties and scores of injured are reported at distribution points manned by “Israel” and private security companies,” Lazzarini wrote on X (previously known as Twitter).
Lazzarini stressed that “these sites have become hazardous rather than safe havens for civilians.”
He emphasized that “This humiliating system continues to force thousands of hungry and desperate people to walk for tens of miles excluding the most vulnerable and those living too far.”
The Commissioner-General added, “What we are witnessing is not an effort to address hunger, but rather to deepen the crisis and strip people of their dignity.”
Lazzarini concluded by saying that ” aid deliveries and distribution must be at scale and safe. In Gaza, this can be done only through the United Nations including UNRWA. We have the expertise, the knowledge and community trust.”
