GAZA, June 07 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) declared on Saturday that the closure of hospitals in the Gaza Strip will have dire consequences for patients and the wounded, due to the lack of treatment and medical supplies.
In a statement, the WHO called on the international community to urgently protect Nasser Medical Complex and Al-Amal Hospital to ensure they remain available and safe, so that the process of receiving patients and the wounded be continued to operate at a minimum.
It called for the immediate and safe entry of essential medicines and medical supplies into Gaza.
For his part, the director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, said that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are unable to cope with the wounded, and patients are dying without access to healthcare.
Abu Salmiya confirmed in media statements on Saturday that hospitals would run out of fuel within two days, noting that children, women, and the elderly are dying of hunger.
