Sanaa issues economic decision to encourage local production

SANAA, June 02 (YPA) – Sanaa government made on Monday an economic decision aiming at protecting and encouraging local production, particularly for the investment sector and productive families.

This decision, based on Investment Law No. 3 of 1446 AH/2025 AD, came after joint statements by the Ministries of Finance, Economy, Industry, and Investment, related to taking important measures to encourage and protect local production.

The decision also included a final ban on the import of certain goods that have a local alternative that fully meets market needs, at the highest quality and the most competitive price, starting on 1 August 2025.

According to the decision, raw mango pulp, tomato paste and sauce, ready-to-use canned juices, soft drinks, refined sugar, baby diapers, canned legumes, halva, plastic pipes, are among the goods whose import has been restricted, as well as to many other products.

The statement urged importers of these goods to contact the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Sector and the Customs Authority for details and to adhere to the decision.
