Al-Ajrami: Each family will receive one emergency bag of flour next week

GAZA, May 29 (YPA) -Abdel Nasser Al-Ajrami, head of the Bakeries Association in Gaza, confirmed on Thursday that the association received an official notification from Israeli and American parties, in addition to the World Food Programme (WFP), regarding the start of flour distribution to citizens in both northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Al-Ajrami stated that the distribution mechanism could be implemented as early as next week or in the coming days.

He explained that the first phase involves distributing one emergency bag of flour per family, until the program is fully organized and a clear distribution mechanism is established.

He noted that a major issue in the past was Israel’s refusal to allow flour to enter for entities other than bakeries, while bakeries themselves had suspended cooperation with the program due to limited production capacity.

Al-Ajrami added: “Our goal is for citizens to feel food-secure by having flour available in their homes, and to ensure that aid trucks are not obstructed.”

He confirmed that the number of aid trucks entering the Strip is determined by the Israeli side.

The World Food Programme (WFP) announced on Wednesday that it had resumed direct flour distribution to families in the Gaza Strip, after the Israeli occupation had continuously blocked such efforts since May 19.

WFP confirmed that it had succeeded in obtaining the necessary permits to resume distributions, including in the northern governorates of Gaza.

The organization emphasized its strong commitment to supporting Palestinian families during these dire humanitarian conditions, stressing that direct distribution of aid is the safest and most effective method to ensure food reaches those in need.

WFP also called on the international community and local actors to unite efforts and operate calmly and in an orderly manner to guarantee the uninterrupted delivery and distribution of food to all Palestinian families.
