GAZA, May 28 (YPA) – On the 600th day of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, a total number of martyrs has reached 54,084, who have been transferred to hospitals, and over 9,000 remain missing persons, including thousands under the rubble.
In a report, the Gaza-based Government Media Office published a comprehensive update on Wednesday that more than 2.4 million Palestinians are facing genocide, starvation, and forced displacement, amid widespread destruction of infrastructure, institutions, and essential services.
The Office said more than 12,400 female women and 18,000 children, including 356 babies, have been killed, and almost 8,968 whose bodies arrived at hospitals.
The report documented the deaths of 1,580 medical personnel, 220 journalists, and 754 police and support personnel. The number of massacres committed have exceeded 15,000, affecting more than 14,000 families, including 2,483 families completely wiped out, while others saw only one survivor.
It indicated that over 123,000 civilians have been injured, including 17,000 who required long-term rehabilitation, and that more than 4,700 amputations were recorded, most of them involving children.
Health conditions have been deteriorated as a result of the blockade and starvation, with 58 deaths due to malnutrition, most of them children, and 242 deaths due to food and medicine shortages. In addition, there have been deaths among kidney patients and pregnant women, amid a near-total collapse of the health system, with 164 health facilities out of service and dozens of hospitals and medical centers being destroyed.
The office confirmed that the occupation has completely destroyed almost 210,000 housing units and severely damaged more than 290,000 others, displacing approximately 280,000 families. The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) has exceeded two million, most of whom live in dilapidated tents or are homeless.
The occupation has also targeted 241 shelters and continued its comprehensive blockade policy by closing the crossings for 88 days, preventing the entry of approximately 50,000 trucks carrying aid and fuel, putting 70,000 children at risk of death from starvation.
The office’s report said that the aggression completely destroyed 149 educational institutions, depriving more than 785,000 students of education. It also killed more than 13,000 students and 800 teachers, targeted 828 mosques and three churches, and destroyed 19 cemeteries.
On the economic front, the report indicated that direct losses in the agricultural sector exceeded $2.2 billion, with 92% of agricultural land being damaged and vegetable and fish production nearly completely collapsed.
Finally, It estimated the initial direct losses from the genocidal war at more than $62 billion, while the sector lost more than 1.88 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, and thousands of kilometers of water, sewage, and road networks were destroyed.
