Yemenia suspends flights after Hajj plane targeted, threatens to hold “Israel” accountable internationally
SANAA, May 28 (YPA) – Yemen Airways company strongly condemned the blatant and cowardly Israeli attack on its civilian aircraft this morning at Sanaa International Airport, moments before the passengers, pilgrims to the Sacred House of God, were due to board a scheduled flight authorized by the relevant authorities.
The airline said in an official statement on its social media page, “The aircraft was on a purely humanitarian mission,” stressing that it had obtained all necessary permits for takeoff and operation. It described the attack as an extension of a series of “systematic crimes that add to the shameful and bloody record of the Zionist occupation, targeting the foundations of life in Yemen.”
“This treacherous aggression reveals a deep-seated hatred toward everything that connects the Yemeni people to life and hope and confirms once again that Yemen’s enemies show no regard for the capabilities, rights, and fate of this great people,” the statement added.
The company announced a temporary suspension of all flights from Sanaa International Airport until further notice, holding the Zionist entity and those it described as “collaborators” fully responsible for this attack, which it considered a flagrant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and international civil aviation laws.
The statement emphasized that targeting the aircraft will not deter “Yemenia” from fulfilling its national and humanitarian duty and that it reserves all its legal rights to prosecute and pursue “Israel” and all those involved in this crime to be brought to justice before competent courts, in accordance with international law, the laws of war, and international air transport laws.
Yemen Airways calls on the free people of the world, international organizations, and civil aviation institutions to break their shameful silence and condemn this cowardly attack, which not only threatens an aircraft but also poses a direct threat to the right to freedom of movement, the safety of civil aviation, and the right to life itself.
