MARIB, May 27 (YPA) –Militants affiliated with the Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition abducted six employees of “Safer oil company” from the streets of Marib city, which is under the control of the coalition forces, due to their tribal affiliation.
According to human rights sources, the employees, all members of the Al-Hatik tribe, were kidnapped over the past two days in retaliation for the abduction of an Islah-affiliated officer by a member of the same tribe.
This incident comes amid the ongoing escalation of security chaos in the area.
The sources added the militants abducted the employees from the main Marib–Safer Road without any legal justification, other than their belonging to the Al-Hatik tribe, a sub-branch of the Abidah tribe.
The abduction campaign has sparked widespread outrage among human rights activists.
They demanded the immediate release of the abducted employees, emphasizing the need to uphold legal protections and human rights regardless of tribal affiliation.
Activists also called for an end to the exploitation of tribal conflicts by the Islah Party, which is accused of manipulating local divisions to maintain control over oil resources in the region.
They argued that this control has come at the expense of sustainable development and the provision of essential public services to the people of the Abidah tribe.
