Sports festival in Turkey commemorates Palestinian children killed in Gaza war

GAZA, May 22 (YPA) – The first day of the 7th Traditional Sports Festival in Istanbul featured special activities commemorating the children of Gaza who lost their lives as a result of the Israeli war of extermination.

The festival, organized by the World Traditional Sports Federation, kicked off at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Thursday.

The festival, which continues until next Sunday, included a variety of performances in the fields of sports, traditional games, traditional arts, cooking, and performing arts.

In addition, a space was allocated within the solidarity tent to highlight the suffering of the Palestinian people and shed light on the tragedy of the children of Gaza.

In the solidarity tent, symbolic games representing the children of Gaza who lost their lives in the war were displayed, and banners supporting the Palestinian sector were raised.

Oil paintings inspired by the Palestinian cause were also presented, and a watermelon, representing the map of Palestine, was placed in the center of the solidarity tent.

A blood-stained journalist’s jacket was also displayed in remembrance of the journalists who lost their lives as a result of the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Director Tülay Gokçemen said that the goal of these activities is to remind visitors of the daily suffering that the children of Gaza go through under the siege and Israeli attacks.

It is worth noting that 35 countries are participating in the festival, and events will be organized in many fields, such as traditional sports and games, traditional arts, culinary arts, and theatrical performance arts.
