MPs criticize UK position on arms exports to Israeli occupation

LONDON, May 19 (YPA) – Member of Parliament and UK Labour Transport Minister, Peter Hendy, has called on the Labour leadership to immediately publish its assessment of the genocidal war in Gaza.

He described the party’s administration’s position on arms exports to Israel as “disgusting.”

Hendy is one of more than 60 parliamentarians from all major parties, except the Reform Party in the UK, who have signed a letter from Amnesty International calling on the UK government to take action on Gaza.

The letter was signed by Stephen Flynn and all members of the SNP Westminster group, along with Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Plaid Cymru, Green and independent MPs.

This call came after the British Labour Party’s Middle East Minister, Hamish Falconer, said that the government would conduct “ongoing assessments” of the risk of genocide in Gaza.

Earlier, British MPs called on the Foreign Secretary to “address allegations that military equipment exports to Israel continue despite the suspension.”

MPs expressed concern that Parliament had been misled by the suspension of major arms export licenses to the Israeli entity.
