ADEN, May 15 (YPA) – Dozens of female activists from the city called on a mass women’s demonstration at Al-Arood Square tomorrow, Friday, to protest the economic collapse and lack of services, especially the city’s devastating power outage.
Local sources in Aden said the planned demonstration would represent a new form of resistance to the policies of starvation and the destruction of public services, in addition to infrastructure that plague the coalition-controlled areas.
The Aden demonstrations come amid a protest movement launched last week by women in Mahra province. Women have decided to stage a sit-in at the Sarfait border crossing between Yemen and Oman, preventing trucks from crossing until their demands for electricity be met.
The protest are being staged despite a ban on demonstrations by coalition-backed security authorities in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.
