Sanaa Airport gets several humanitarian flights

SANAA, May 15 (YPA) – Sanaa International Airport resumed on Thursday civilian flights after a suspension of several days due to Israeli attacks.

Yahya Al-Sayani, Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Sanaa, explained that the airport had regained full operational and technical readiness to receive civilian flights, in accordance with the requirements and standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

He confirmed the arrival and departure of ten humanitarian flights from the United Nations and international organizations operating in Yemen, and the provision of all ground and navigation services in force at international airports for these flights.

Al-Sayani pointed out that Sanaa Airport and Yemenia Airways had completed all required technical and operational procedures.

“Intensive coordination is currently underway between Yemenia Airlines and the relevant authorities in Jordan, with the aim of completing the necessary procedures to resume regular civilian flights,” he added. “It is expected that flights will resume within the next few hours, once the Jordanian side completes the necessary arrangements.”

On May 6,2025, Sanaa Airport was violently targeted by Israeli aircraft, in response to Yemen’s support for Gaza.
