Hamas: Gaza faces catastrophic famine, and the occupation is deliberately creating a humanitarian disaster

GAZA, May 12 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) accused the Israeli occupation forces, on Monday, of deliberately creating famine and exacerbating the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, in light of the continued tight siege and the prevention of the entry of food and medicine.

The movement said in a press release that famine is catastrophically intensifying in various areas of the Gaza Strip due to the occupation’s continued prevention of the entry of humanitarian aid, noting that this reflects a premeditated intent to cause a deliberate humanitarian catastrophe for more than two million people under siege.

Hamas emphasized that the only entities authorized to manage and distribute humanitarian aid are UN agencies and relevant government bodies, warning against attempts by the occupation or what it described as its “agents” to impose control over aid distribution channels.

The movement called for an immediate lifting of the blockade on Gaza and the urgent opening of the crossings to allow the flow of relief and medical aid, provided that this occurs under UN supervision and without any Israeli interference or conditions.

Hamas stressed that the occupation’s continued implementation of these policies constitutes a “crime against humanity” and requires urgent action from the international community to halt the worsening catastrophe and save the civilian population.
